Types of ferns available for home gardens

There is an astounding range of ferns for home gardens, with more than 10,000 varied species growing all over the world. Whether places inside a basket, a garden or somewhere else, these ferns have become a major component of the plant repertoire of a gardener. There are several fern types that are now being considered by people who have interest in gardening.

Boston ferns are one of the first and the most popular types that are relatively tough and possess higher tolerance for dry and light conditions which is quite unlike majority of the fern species. These are some traits of Boston ferns that make propagation much easier. It looks very attractive when hung in baskets.

The next type is the Bird’s Nest Ferns that are naturally found in the environment, and particularly in the rainforests. These ferns are typically seemed at the tip of canopy. Their fronds seem to be quite different from most of the ferns, and these are spoon-shaped from the central rosette.

Staghorn Ferns are often very difficult to maintain. These are quite popular inform ferns worldwide. There are 17 variations of these Staghorn ferns, of which only one has been very common.

There are many other species of ferns that can be used for home gardens to add a perfect appeal to the overall ambiance. Most fern species require shaded regions and moist soil. It is possible to combine this environment together by creating such areas that would ensure proper growth and development of the ferns. Most of the fern species are purely greenish in color; however, there might be some other color combinations as well.
